Standards Alignment
The industrial standards and frameworks ChangePilot is built around. Each row names a capability, the standard it's aligned to, and the clause that specifically informs our design.
ChangePilot is designed to address these standards. We do not claim compliance certification — that's the customer's auditor's call against the customer's specific facility, scope, and evidence.
Management of Change (MOC)
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| MOC workflow — full 6-stage lifecycle | OSHA Process Safety Management 29 CFR 1910.119(l) | Each MOC stage maps to a 1910.119(l) sub-clause: Capture/Frame to (l)(1) technical basis, Route/Decide to (l)(2) authorization, Execute to (l)(3) inform employees + (g) training + (i) PSSR, Closeout to (l)(4) records. |
| MOC procedure design | AIChE Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) Guidelines for Management of Change | ChangePilot's MOC stage model + risk-tagging + lessons-learned loop follows the CCPS MoC framework. |
| Replacement-in-kind exclusion | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(l) RIK exclusion | Valve scoping pack distinguishes strict RIK from functional changes; the RIK exclusion appears as a question hint to anchor the call. |
Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR)
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| PSSR hard gate before restart | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(i) | Execute stage carries a PSSR checklist + signoff requirement. Cannot transition to Closeout without it. |
| PSSR equivalent under EPA RMP | EPA Risk Management Program 40 CFR 68.77 | Available as an attachable citation; same checklist satisfies both regimes for facilities subject to RMP. |
Hot Work permits
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Hot work fire-watch and 35-foot rule | NFPA NFPA 51B — Standard for Fire Prevention During Welding, Cutting, and Other Hot Work | Hot-work scoping pack carries the 35-foot rule explicitly in the question hint, plus continuous-fire-watch requirements during work and post-work hold. |
| Hot work in classified areas | OSHA 29 CFR 1910.252 | Hot-work scoping pack escalates fire-watch + gas-testing cadence for Class I Div 1/2 classified areas (NFPA 70 Article 500). |
Lockout / Tagout (LOTO)
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| LOTO complexity question on energized assets | OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 | Pump and valve scoping packs ask LOTO complexity (single source / electrical+process / multi-source / group). Multi-source triggers reference to 1910.147(c)(4) written energy-isolation procedure; group LOTO triggers 1910.147(f)(3) overall responsibility. |
| LOTO program reference | ANSI ANSI Z244.1 | Cited alongside 1910.147 in scoping-pack hints. Z244.1 covers alternative methods of energy isolation when LOTO is impractical. |
Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| PHA requirement | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(e) | Functional changes flagged by the valve scoping pack route to a PHA-redline subtask. Hotspots stage feeds the PHA's hazard identification. |
| HAZOP guidewords for systematic deviation analysis | IEC IEC 61882 | Universal RISK_PACK question hints reference HAZOP guidewords (no / less / more / reverse / other-than) when the user is identifying process deviations. |
| Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) | AIChE CCPS CCPS Guidelines for Layer of Protection Analysis | Risk likelihood + impact questions in RISK_PACK map to LOPA initiating-event frequencies and consequence categories. Required risk reduction maps to IEC 61511 SIL bands. |
| Safety Instrumented System fail-safe state | IEC IEC 61511 | Valve fail-position question hint anchors the SIS fail-safe state requirement when the valve is part of a Safety Instrumented Function. |
Contractor Management
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Contractor pre-qualification + onsite oversight | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(h) | Contractor scoping pack drives pre-qualification, additional-insured, badge process, and orientation flow. Vendor module (Pro tier) extends this with RFQ + scorecard. |
Training & Competency
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Training on operating procedures | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(g) | Execute stage carries training records linked to the MOC. Required-by-restart training cleared before PSSR. |
Incident Investigation (when Incidents UI ships)
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Incident investigation requirement | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(m) | When the Incidents module ships, its workflow follows AIChE CCPS Guidelines for Investigating Chemical Process Incidents + HFACS for human-factors classification. |
Compliance Audits
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Triennial compliance audit | OSHA PSM 29 CFR 1910.119(o) | Audit-trail PDF + signature-chain export are designed as the evidence packet a 1910.119(o) audit team needs. |
| Management-system audit method | ISO ISO 19011 — Guidelines for auditing management systems | Audit-trail format follows ISO 19011 expectations for traceability, signoff, and evidence chain. |
Continuous Improvement
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Lessons-learned closure loop | Deming + ISO PDCA cycle + ISO 9001 §10.3 (continual improvement) | MOC closeout's Lessons Learned section closes the Plan-Do-Check-Act loop; lessons are designed to feed the next cycle, not just sit in a file. |
Vertical extensions
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Pharma — electronic records + cGMP | FDA 21 CFR Part 11 + 21 CFR 210/211 | Signature-chain PDF and electronic-signature audit trail are structured to support 21 CFR 11 evidence. Pharma vertical page references Annex 15 for change qualification. |
| Energy / utilities — bulk electric system controls | NERC CIP-010 (configuration change management) + CIP-013 (supply chain) | Energy vertical page maps configuration-change management to the MOC workflow; vendor onboarding maps to CIP-013 supply-chain risk. |
Project planning vocabulary
| Capability | Standard / Clause | How it maps |
|---|---|---|
| PMBOK terminology in the screener and planner | PMI PMBOK Guide — terms used: deliverable, milestone, dependency, scope baseline | Screener + planner copy uses PMBOK-aligned terms where they're sharper than alternatives. Avoids forcing white-collar PM tone onto industrial copy. |
Standards listed here are referenced throughout the product as in-context tooltips, screener question hints, audit-PDF citations, and pricing detail.
